XeraBond - KF (Kiln Furniture) is a sialon-bonded silicon carbide, which has high performance at high temperature.
These properties make it an excellent material for both tableware and sanitaryware industries. The material can allow for extra capacity and higher throughput.
Flatness is of importance for kiln furniture and XeraCarb can boast flatness for beams and batts of <0.1%. The sialon-bonded silicon carbide doesn’t creep reducing the maintenance on kilns.

XeraBond KF is a stronger and more chemically stable conventional refractory products with a protective coating for high and low temperature oxidation resistance. It also has the advantage that it does not require turning because it does not warp in service.

Traditionally, the manufacturers of pottery, sanitaryware and building products have used cordierite or alumina based refractories for kiln furniture. These refractory kiln furniture products are heavy and have inherent problems. With the exception of sintered silicon carbide (SiSiC), these products are porous and require a washcoating of alumina or zircon to prevent glaze sticking to the batt.
